It’s no secret that the vast majority of electric guitars have been designed by and for men, which explains a good deal about their size and weight. For women and especially young girls who wish to play the guitar it can sometimes be a struggle to play an instrument that was designed for someone much larger (and probably smellier).
Enter Daisy Rock guitars.
Designed by a woman (Tish Ciravolo) for female guitarists, Daisy Rock guitars and basses are purposely designed with lighter weights and smaller scale necks to fit the average female’s smaller hands. The colors, finishes, and body styles have also been designed with females in mind. In addition to their well-received brand of guitars, Daisy rock also markets a wide variety of accessories (cases, picks, amps) designed with the female guitarist in mind. Popular guitar models include the Daisy, the Heartbreaker, the Star, and the Butterfly.
Most of Daisy Rock guitar’s endorsees are women as well, including Nancy Wilson, Dolly Parton, Aimee Oritz, Lisa Loeb, Miley Cyrus, and Angel Faith.
Once a wholly owned subsidiary of Schecter guitars, the success of Daisy Rock has allowed it to strike out on its own, though it has publishing and distribution agreement with Alfred Publishing. In addition to their playful body styles and female-friendly size, Daisy Rock guitars are also very well made and play quite easily.
